Ingredients:
3 cups (390 grams) all purpouse flour
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup ( 227 grams ) butter, room temperature
1 cup (200 grams) granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
Optional:
1 bar of dark chocolate ( 113 g or 4 oz.)
Procedure
In a large bowl combine all of the ingredients (except the chocolate), mixing to form a firm dough. Chill the dough for 1 hour. Roll out dough to about 6mm (1/4in) thick. Shape dough as desired using your choice of cookie cutters. Bake the cookies for 15 minutes at 177˚C (350˚F) and let them cool down on a rack. Melt the chocolate by double boiling method or using a microwave. Dip the cookies in the chocolate, or drizzle the cookies with chocolate.
